Making Oak Gall Ink - An Update!
A few weeks ago I wrote about how I was experimenting with making oak gall ink for my new book Ebb and Flow: A Guide to Seasonal Living, which is due out in September 2024. It’s been an interesting process as there aren’t many cohesive tutorials online - by which I mean they all seem to involve different ingredients and processes. Many of them also required the use of powdered iron sulphate, which isn’t particularly expensive or difficult to find, but I really wanted to try and make it using more basic ingredients that you might find lying around the house already. Plus you only need a tiny amount of iron so you would inevitably end up with a bag of iron sulphate that would never get used - such a waste!
