Happy publication day to my newest book, Concise Medicinal Plants! A pocket-sized guide to 163 medicinal plants found in the UK and Europe, it’s my second contribution to Bloomsbury’s Concise series after my bestselling Concise Foraging Guide was released in 2021.
I love being a contributor to the Concise series (and there may be a few more coming 🤫). They are such wonderful little books, packed with information but small and light enough to carry in your pocket. But this one was particularly fun because it felt like the perfect extension of my foraging guide.
Not foraging for food, but medicinal properties, which is something I’m really fascinated by. I am a big supporter of modern medicine and everything it provides for us, but it is empowering to explore complimentary options too - the herbs, balms and tonics our ancestors used to keep themselves healthy.
Concise Medicinal Plants includes 163 illustrated species found throughout the UK and Europe. Not only does it include where to find them, their medicinal properties and toxicity information, but at the front of the book I’ve also included information on growing, harvesting and preserving your own medicinal herbs, as well as simple techniques for making topical balms, teas and tinctures.
If you’d like your own little copy of Concise Medicinal Plants (she’s real cute), you can do so in all the usual places! My favourite place to shop online is Bookshop.org, direct from Bloomsbury, or head to your local indie bookshop and support them. Thank you!
