Dark Skies - Alternative Covers

As we speak, I’m in the process of designing the front cover for my next book The Bridleway, which is due out next June. The whole process is an interesting one from the author’s perspective - especially when the author is designing it too! - and it reminded me that I had never shared the alternative covers designed by the in-house team at Bloomsbury when we were preparing Dark Skies for publication. At that point, I had drawn the chapter artworks but hadn’t been commissioned specifically to design the cover, although in the end they did use one of my illustrations as the cover anyway, and I love the final design very much - especially as they added a shiny-blue effect to the aurora ribbons.
